i may be the only person on this planet who thinks this is a cool picture, but that's alright. hopefully once you know what it is, it will seem much better to you...
the story behind this picture is that i woke up one morning as the sun was rising. in my house, i have the upstairs (3 bedrooms + 1 bathroom) all to myself. in the hallway, there is a window that faces east, over a roof that just so happened to be snow covered. the sun was at just the right angle, giving a lot of contrast.
coincidentally this looks a lot like sand. but it's not.
