first snow 2002

first snows are magical. this year i missed the absolute first snow while i was in montreal, but i managed to catch "my" first snow.

my winter resolution this year is to shoot almost exclusively black and white film all winter. these pictures are the first results from that resolution.

the first was taken from my house with a telephoto lens. the woods are almost immediately behind our house, so i have a beautiful view with every fresh snow.

the rest were taken around my land with my trusty 50mm.

name: ben oh, c'mon guys...it's a black rock from the shore of lake superior. simple! so then it snowed. great! so then i took a picture of it. what exactly is the "essence" you're looking for? ;) .: jan 06

name: Debra I really like the form of the rock, which is just this flow of movement, and that within the solidness of the rock would be enough. But the texture of the snow, and the sense of depth and ... softness is a great juxtaposition. Good eye, Ben .: jan 16
