this picture, besides being my current favorite picture, has a funny story behind it. i was driving home from eau claire one night, and i noticed that the stars were really out, plus it was a very clear night. so i stopped on a country road, turned off all my lights, and started setting up my camera. a couple cars went by, so each time they went by, i turned on my interior lights and flashers. finally, just as i set up this shot, a van came over the hill beyond me, so i turned on my flashers again. this time, the driver stopped. it was funny--i could only see his cigarette, no face, nothing. he asked if i needed help, and of course, i didn't, so i told him. then he drove off, turned right at the stop sign behind me, and left his indelible taillights below the horizon in the picture on the right.
