sapphire snowfall

february tenth

i'm not really sure what i think of these pictures. i didn't expect them to be anywhere near this blue...i expected out of focus, organic strange shapes. but not this. i took the photos just as it was almost dark, using long shutter speeds. apparently, in dim light snow refracts a lot of blue light that our eyes don't really perceive, but my camera does.

hmm. in any case, the results are intriguing, but like i said, i'm not sure what i think about them.

i like the first one because it differs with most of the other pictures on minusime. instead of emphasizing a particular point, everything is in focus. its good not all your pictures are like that, but this ones a niceirregularity. plus, it has great color (accurate or not).

number twoi dont know if i like or not either. im leaning towards yes but its still not as good as the first.

number threenot as cool. placed with the other two, it looks unnaturally tinted and a little too out of focus for me.

I definitely agree with Ashley... I like the depth of the first one, less focus, but it draws the eye into the picture, the eye doesn't know quite what to do with the other two... but the artistry is there for all of them. Good job :)

the main reason i put these up was for teh interest of photographically inclined people like you, not because i think they are great pictures.

keep it in mind :)

ben.
i think that the first photo is very well done. isn't it funny how you can take a picture and it turns out no where near what you thought it would. its totally awesome how cameras can depict a winter night. i think that it looks so unreal, almost like a painting. maybe something you would see in a picture depicting a forest from a edgar allen poe short story.

I love the first picture! it has complete depth, and it's eerie, and frigid, and trance-like. Almost like something I'd picture to be out of a nightmare of some sort. it's really, really beautiful.
