julie's rose
july sixteenth
i took these photos in berlin, germany. my friends justin and julie had gone on a date that morning and justin bought julie this rose at a sidewalk flower stand and she left it sitting in a coke bottle on her hostel room floor. megan was trying to take some photos of it with black and white film in her point and shoot camera, and i guess almost to show off my manual camera, i started shooting as well. i flipped my lens for the narrow depth of field and shot away, even though this is one of those cliche subjects that i normally avoid! i like the results, though, especially the first.
