night shots

march twelfth

these pictures were taken sort of experimentally--i had a roll of 800 asa color film, and had been seeing these scenes on my way home. they're all within about 5 miles of my house, so one night i bundled up in all my snowboarding gear to ward off the 5 degree weather and took these pictures.

i'm not sure what i think of them. they're certainly interesting from a photographic viewpoint but most of them aren't very artistically engaging. i like 2, 4, and 7 best. #3 is strange because it looks like twilight, but it was actually about 11pm when i took the picture. there was just enough ambient light (from eau claire lights) in the sky behind the house that it seemed that way.

#5 is a power substation near my house; i was semi-afraid that the state troopers that pass by it routinely would think i was a terrorist. no one materialized...
