photos from around my house

january seventh

updated january seventh

about 85% of my pictures are taken when i am:
1) on vacation
or,
2) bored.

i get bored around my house fairly often, so if the weather is nice, or i see a cool picture, i take it. here are a few from my "estate" that don't fit in some other category.

the first is a picture of the etching on my front door. not so much my own art, but reformatting someone else's. these maple leafs were drawn by my mom, then etched into the door by jan turner (i think), so they definitely deserve some credit. honestly, though, i think most photography is simply interpreting someone else's art, whether it be God's, an architect, a sculptor, etc.

the second is one of my few pictures that i've framed in my house. it turned out a lot better than i was expecting, mostly because of a flaw in my equipment. i have a cheap 80-200mm telephoto lens that periodically does that viginetting deal you see happening around the margins of the picture. most of the time it ruins the frame, but in this case it turned what i was expecting (a minimalistic picture with a black jet on a flat blue background) into something more interesting.

the third is a sunrise picture taken from my window. i love the contrast of this picture.

the last is a black and white texture photo of my front porch. mmm.

'Misty Hills' looks amazing. I never realized your bedroom view was so scenic. The fog really adds depth.
The airplane/jet picture is intresting. The 'viginetting deal' really makes it 'pop'
