september twenty-first
in june 2001 i took a road trip out to the east coast with my brother, dad, and sister. we went to nyc, boston, baltimore, and washington d.c.. inbetween boston and baltimore, though, we spent a few hours in gloucester, the oldest fishing community in the usa. they have a memorial in the harbor that lists every known sailor that has died (over 10,000) which is really moving...the names cover seven or eight 2 foot by 4 foot bronze panels.
on a less sobering note, i had fish and chips on the ocean, plus i took a few pictures. the first is just of the sky, the second, obviously, a gull. it's the only successful picture of a seagull i have ever taken. you can see a digitally modified version in the digital section.
