a day with ben

october eighteenth

i recently took some graduation pictures for a friend of mine, ben d. we drove around eau claire and shot about two rolls of film, it was a fun time. honestly, i wasn't really expecting the results we got--i was really pleased, as was ben.

the first two were just pictures that i liked based on artistic merit. the first was taken on top of the e.c. civic center parking ramp; for some reason, they painted the parking lot gray this summer. weird. it looks kind of cool with the lines, i think this'd be a good place to take band pictures. the second was on the walking bridge near grand avenue; the expression on ben's face is pretty cool.

the third is the graduation picture he actually settled on (although he was going to use #1 as well). it's at mt. simon park.

finally, the last two pictures are just a couple shots that ben took himself. he uses a pentax k-1000, which is basically a full manual version of the camera i use. sweet, sweet. he takes some good pictures, for sure.

Ben dickey is one photogenic-afro sportin'-fun lovin' guy! Those pictures he took have a very somber mood and are a little depressing. . . but i like them.

the third one is probably best for senior pics, but i dunno...i think he could've gotten away with #1. i would have. the white lines add so much to that picture.
#2 is great except that it's tipped!! i almost get dizzy. well not quite. but it's one of the first things i notice about the picture. take it again! (cause you know, it's VERY possible to recapture everything perfectly twice) *smile*
