three a.m. black and white

september twenty-first

one night, i don't remember when, i was bored. too bored to sleep, at least. so i broke out my camera and started "wasting" film.

the first picture is the moon, and clouds going over it. it was a really surreal night; almost a full moon and broken clouds that were moving really fast. i used a long shutter speed to show the motion. i remember laying on my back on my bedroom floor, waiting for the clouds to be just right. it worked out.

the second picture is my hand, lit up by my alarm clock light. nothing too cool photographically, but what makes this a great picture is how my friend jessi k. reacted to it. i was showing her my "best of" album (essentially this website) and she saw this picture, lit up, and said, "you know what this looks like?? it looks like GOD!" yeah. that was before she knew it was my hand. anyhow, i thought it was pretty funny and every time i add pictures to my album and see it i think of jessi and laugh.

name: ashe i had thought the 2 pictures were related, so after seeing a moon picture, i thought "uh...clouds?" but now that i know it's a hand, i can't see it as anything else. the hand of GOD...er...ben. .: dec 26

name: ben it was a while ago, but i believe the fstop was something around 11. enough to keep my entire hand in focus, but not too long; the light was very low, and i was afraid i'd move my hand too much if i had a long exposure. sometimes i twitch! :) .: jan 14
